How did we work on the project?
Spotwork approached us with the goal of creating a platform for artists and individuals, where they could search for and put offers of services. Multiple features were planned to empower this main functionality.
When Spotwork contacted us, the platform was partly finished. The previous team couldn’t handle the complexity of the project. This was visible both in the code and in functionality. We decided to first rewrite the application in order to improve the quality of the code.
The platform was based on Elgg architecture, empowered with our custom libraries. The first version focused on spots - short text advertisements. Subsequently, a talent finder was added, as well as multiple features to improve communication and knowledge sharing within site.
With time, the platform was optimized to support more massive traffic. We used our high-load technology to handle this.
Multiple new features were added to the project later. Among them was federated networks - a feature allowing the creation of a separated Spotwork instance that communicates with some other cases, sharing chosen data.
What did we achieve?
Spotwork made its way to the market with extensive features. Currently there are over 60 types of entities in the system, and approximately 110 custom-made modules. Commercially Spotwork has helped match hundreds of vendors and individuals with clients.
